V60


The Hario V60 brews a wonderfully clean cup of coffee. As a manual pourover, a number of variables can be manipulated and we feel our recipe rivals the best out there! Try it and tell us what you think.

Recipe

For a 12oz:

You'll Need:

Coffee: 24 grams, freshly ground slightly finer than drip
Water: 385 grams
Filter: v60 #2 filter

Step 1: Begin by pre-wetting the filter completely. You want to pour plenty of hot water through the filter to both pre-heat the v60 and wash away any paper taste.
Step 2: Place the v60 on top of an empty mug or pouring vessel and place both on top of a scale. Pour the freshly ground coffee into the filter and tare the scale.
Step 3: Pour 60 grams of water over the grinds and start the timer. Let sit for 45 seconds.
Step 4: Pour 325 grams of water over the grinds focusing your pour on the center. The pace should be very under control.
Step 5: Wait for the water to finsih its draw down. Total time should be between 2:35 and 2:45.

For a 16oz:

You'll Need:

Coffee: 30 grams, freshly ground slightly finer than drip
Water: 500 grams
Filter: v60 #2 filter

Step 1: Begin by pre-wetting the filter completely. You want to pour plenty of hot water through the filter to both pre-heat the v60 and wash away any paper taste.
Step 2: Place the v60 on top of an empty mug or pouring vessel and place both on top of a scale. Pour the freshly ground coffee into the filter and tare the scale.
Step 3: Pour 60 grams of water over the grinds and start the timer. Let sit for 45 seconds.
Step 4: Pour 440 grams of water over the grinds focusing your pour on the center. The pace should be very under control.
Step 5: Wait for the water to finsih its draw down. Total time should be between 2:50 and 2:55.
